Two of London's finest establishments Benares and Hakkasan, both Michelin-starred restaurants in Mayfair, are coming together for two charity dinners in October.

Chefs Sameer Taneja of restaurant Benares and Andrew Yeo of the Hakkasan are going to whip up eight courses of culinary treats for you to feast on to raise fund fro NHS Charities Together and Action Against Hunger.

And in doing so, the pair look at the connection between Cantonese and Indian cuisine, which share a relationship that dates back to when Chinese tradesmen passed through India's Kashmir region along the Silk Road in BC times. (Fatt Pundit's kitchen also plates up Indo-Chinese dishes, if you're curious.)

The menu pays tribute to both nations' street food cultures and celebrates the dishes they share such as the traditional dessert Rose Cookie which is found both in Chinese and Indian cultures.

The tasting menu (£168 pp) is both traditional and contemporary, filled with modern iterations of dishes that have existed for aeons.

This includes Peking Duck, Malabar scallops with griddled paratha, caviar shui mai and tandoori lamb momo.

A vegetarian menu is available on request.

The first dinner, held at Benares, is on Monday, October 3 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, raising funds for NHS Charities Together.

The second dinner is on at Hakkasan Mayfair on Monday, October 17, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, with profits going to Action Against Hunger.

Tickets for either dinner are £168 per person and come with a welcome glass of champagne, and can be purchased at sevenrooms.com.
