The Burnt City, Punchdrunk's immersive and mind-bending theatre project in Woolwich just got better...

Punchdrunk has announced The Burnt City's very own speakeasy, Peep, will host a string of late night post-performance shows this October.

Available to punters attending The Burnt City on October 26-28, Peep Lates sees three eclectic performance and music acts take to Peep's stage, right in the belly of the smouldering remnants of Troy.

If you haven't experienced The Burnt City yet, this might all sound confusing.

The Burnt City is a trail-blazing example of site-specific theatre at its best.

Sprawling across two warehouses in Woolwich, the show is a reimagining of the Greek tragedy the fall of Troy, told by multiple narratives that weave in and out of each other on loop.

It is performed by an army of actors who move among the audience, who in turn are invited to roam around the colossal space - which has been dressed with painstaking attention to detail to look like a city teetering on destruction - discovering what they discover along the way.

Without giving anything away, it is disorienting and surreal, and a phenomenal experience.

In the middle of Troy's rabble, Peep is a speakeasy and fully functioning bar, and a bit of respite from the ongoing confusion surrounding it.

Part Spiegel Tent, part a David Lynch creation, Peep has a loop of twisted vaudeville acts performing on stage, and this is where you can carry on your night after The Burnt City ends with the Peep Lates shows.

First on the bill on Wednesday, October 26, is singer songwriters Laville who release his debut album The Wander on Acid Jazz records. He has collaborated with the likes of Ashe Walker, Foreign Beggars and Hybrid Minds.

Next up, on Thursday October 27 is Plumm and skttrd. Plumm's genre-bending artistry and vocal abilities have taken her from jazz gigs in Paris to the Royal Albert Hall as she showcases her atmospheric soundscapes and cinematic compositions. skttrd are an audio-visual collective who perform live electronic and DJ sets, so expect something a little different this night.

For the last date of the run, on Friday, October 28, Beau Jangles and Poppycock take to the stage for a night of drag, show-tunes and old-school charm.

Peep Lates run from 10ppm to 11pm, on October 26,27,28.

Tickets, £15/£14 seated/standing, must be bought in advance and in addition to the main performance.

Punchdrunk's The Burnt City has extended its run date, with booking now open until April, 2023.
