Royal Museums Greenwich will host a Finding Diwali takeover to celebrate the Festival of Light come October.

The Hindu festival, also celebrated by Jain and Silk faiths, is a time to celebrate lights triumph over darkness, goodness over evil and knowledge over ignorance -all good things.

The takeover will take place on Saturday October 22, and as the festival is a time for families to come together, the programme has plenty of fun things to do with the kids.

Hosting the day is BBC Asian Network presenter and comedian Parle Patel, and the programme covers music, food and craft

This includes a live performance by electronic rock sitarist Bishi and Daytimers DJs will play a set for a flash mob, which you are invited to join.

Choreographer Uhsa Jey will teach you some hybrid Bharathanatntym steps, which fuses classical dance with hip hop and was recently performed at the Commonwealth Games.

Chef and author Mira Manek will share Diwali food rituals, and in other talks and demonstrations you can learn to style a sari or make a Diwali Diyas - the traditional light holders used in Diwali celebrations.

The Royal Museums Greenwich Finding Diwali takeover is on Saturday, October 22, 10am-7pm at the National Maritime Museum. Entry is free.
