In an exhibition created with the under sevens in mind, the Horniman Museum will welcome in the wonderous world of author and illustrator David McKee.

ELMER and Friends: The Colourful World of David McKee is a major retrospective of the beloved children's author that covers his 50 year career.

Due to open on Friday October 21 in the Forest Hill museum, it will include original artwork as well as a reading area and time to dress up.

Since first published, some 30 years ago, Elmer has old more than 10 million copies world wide and remains one of the most widely read children's book series of all time, and naturally the exhibition goes big on the beloved patch work elephant.

Start the exhibition by walking through Elmer's jungle while meeting other characters and stories along the way.

As well as illustrations from Elmer and Friends, there will also be original artwork from McKee's other beloved books, Not Now Bernard, Mr Benn and a storyboard of King Rollo.

You can even visit Mr Benn's fancy dress costume shop too.

Tickets are £5.50/£3 adult/child, and family tickets are available.
