ARKENGARTHDALE COMMON

Parish of Hope and Scargill District of Teesdale County of Durham E A L Torstenson has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Arkengarthdale Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The proposal is for a 5 year extension of the Secretary of State consent recieved in March 2009 for the temporary fencing on Hope Moor. An area of approximately 94 hectares has been fenced off to allow the control of stock grazing on the area to improve the vegetation.This is in conjunction with its management under a Higher Level Stewardship Agreement which runs until January 2020. A copy of the application form and accompanying documents can be inspected at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Office, Reeth between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. weekdays and 10.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until 15th day of December 2013.
