Watch Titanic from a Boat at London’s New Float-In Cinema
So far in our stop-start summer of fun, it’s been all about the drive-in cinema, but now, there’s a float-in coming to town…
Why attempt to drive through the traffic-clogged streets of London, when you can simply sail to your next film screening?
It’s move over drive-in, hello float-in, when a new joint venture between Openaire, Merchant Square and GoBoat, comes to town in September.
A fleet of 16 eco-boats will provide the seating for up to 128 people at this innovative new alfresco cinema experience on Regent’s Canal.
It’s not the first time Londoners have taken to the water to catch a film, with The Luna Cinema having offered sell-out screenings to watch Jaws from a boat at Brockwell Lido in previous years.
But this time, you get to captain your self-drive vessel around Little Venice before mooring at Merchant Square to settle in and see the film – just don’t rock the boat.
A giant 6-metre by 3-metre hi-res LED video screen will beam blockbuster hits such as Titanic and A Star Is Born across the water, while high quality audio will be provided via sanitised wireless headphones.
Due to launch on Wednesday 2 September 2020, the float-in cinema will run from Wednesday to Sunday throughout the month.
The line-up includes afternoon showings of family favourites such as Toy Story and The Lion Kings, while evenings lend themselves to singalong showings of Grease, Rocketman and The Greatest Showman.

If you don’t fancy an evening on the waterways, there will also be plenty of socially spaced deckchairs along the towpath.
Popcorn and snacks will be available to order via a dedicated app and delivered straight to your boat or deckchair.
Plus, award-winning artisan pasta chef RaviOllie will be setting up a pop-up kitchen on the water’s edge to serve freshly cooked Italian food (cos this is Little Venice, geddit?!).
Tickets are on sale now priced £200-£250 for boat tickets (accommodating six to eight people), while deck chairs are £15 each. See openaire.co.uk
