So I guess you could do this with your colleagues as a ‘quirky team-building activity’, but wouldn’t floating around in a hot tub or your own BBQ boat in West India Quay be more fun with friends or family?…

If you want to do this with your colleagues, cool. You can. However, you can also hire out a Skuna Boats boat with whoever you like for probably a less awkward time.

Based at London’s West India Quay, Skuna Boats offers the UK’s first Hot Tub Boating experience as well self-drive electric BBQ boat, which could be either really cool or totally not your jam (we think it sounds like fun!)

Stuart Thompson launched Skuna Boats in 2017 after discovering the concept in Holland.

‘The fresh filtered water in the boat is changed after each trip to ensure highest hygiene standards,’ says Thompson, who also opened Barge East, Hackney Wick’s floating bar & restaurant in a 118 year old Dutch Barge.

Also, important to note, not only is the water refreshed regularly, it’s heated to a toasty 38C.

Although boats are currently imported from Holland, Thompson is currently designing Skuna Boats’ own sustainably sourced, British-made boat made with recycled bottles and bottle tops.

Available now until October; Hot Tub boats fit up to 7 people, BBQ boats fit up to 9 and is currently BYO food; Sunday-Friday £225, Saturday £250 for 75 minutes of Thames time; heated changing facilities and lockers are on site; West India Quay, Off Hertsmere Rd, Canary Wharf, E14 4AL; skunaboats.com
