1 Summer of Culture: Edvard Munch Printmaking Workshop
The Montague on the Gardens, Bloomsbury

In partnership with The British Museum and its Edvard Munch: Love and Angst exhibition, The Montague on the Gardens in Bloomsbury is offering guests an insightful evening of creativity and cuisine. The creator of The Scream, art’s most haunting and iconic face, Edvard Munch was a pioneering artist whose prints are among the most iconic in the world. During the evening, you’ll learn the art of printmaking using the artist’s preferred processes of woodcut and drypoint. Using Munch’s work as a starting point, you’ll create your own print with oil-based inks, wood blocks and copper plates. Alongside the enriching art workshop, you’ll also enjoy a welcome coconut cocktail (or glass of prosecco, house wine, beer or soft drink) and a selection of five BBQ dishes from The Montague’s Beach Bar menu and get exclusive tickets to the exhibition, which closes on 21 July. 2 Summer of Culture: An Evening with the Curator of FOOD – Bigger than the Plate

The V&A’s acclaimed FOOD: Bigger than the Plate exhibition, which closes on 20 October, brings together the politics and pleasure of food to ask how the collective choices we make can lead to a more sustainable and delicious food future. Catherine Flood, the exhibition’s curator, will head for The Dining Room at The Egerton House Hotel, an enchanting boutique townhouse in Knightsbridge, for a lively evening of conversation about the future of food in partnership with the Victoria and Albert Museum on 1 August. Flood will discuss the way we grow, experience and distribute food, highlighting ideas such as the urban mushroom farm and real cheese made from human bacteria. Throughout the evening, you’ll enjoy cocktails like The Egerton’s famous martini alongside snacks and canapés created with sustainable ingredients focussed around the exhibition’s key themes. 3 Summer of Culture: Moving to Mars Afternoon Tea

The journey to the Red Planet has become one of the great challenges of our time. In Moving to Mars, a ground-breaking exhibition at The Design Museum opening on 16 October, you’ll discover how every detail in this extraordinary endeavour must be designed. This cosmically inspired afternoon tea at The Milestone Hotel & Residences, located opposite Kensington Palace, will be hosted by Emily Watson, curator of the Moving to Mars exhibition, who will give an exclusive insight into its design fiction, immersive experiences, new commissions and collaborations with contemporary designers. While enjoying afternoon tea at Cheneston’s Restaurant, featuring finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a selection of space-themed pastries, you’ll discover how a Mars colony might evolve, from the spaceships required for the eight-month journey to the habitats that people will live in. 4 Summer of Culture: Dinner with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Dine in The Chesterfield Mayfair’s enchanting conservatory, surrounded by beautiful green foliage, to the music of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at this special event. Hosted by Huw Davies, Deputy Managing Director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the evening will include a Q&A session with the musicians and an exclusively created menu by Executive Head Chef Nathan Hindmarsh. While listening to an exclusive performance from the RPO’s Principal Flautist and Harpist, you’ll dine on a six-course tasting menu crafted from the finest seasonal ingredients including courgette flowers, Cornish turbot, wagyu beef and sheep’s yogurt doughnuts, accompanied by award-winning wines from the hotel’s sister vineyard, Bouchard Finlayson. 5 Summer of Culture: The Art of Tenegui Workshop with Japan House

Learn the Japanese art of wrapping using a tenegui – a beautiful piece of Japanese fabric used for gift wrapping – with an expert from Japan House. Hosted in the stunning Leopard Bar at The Rubens at the Palace, overlooking the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace, the evening will commence with a sake cocktail or a welcome glass of champagne. Japan House, the new cultural home of Japan in London, presents the very best of Japanese art, design and gastronomy. During the workshop, you’ll learn how to wrap with your tenegui, a beautiful and sustainable alternative to using disposable materials. You’ll also enjoy a selection of Japanese cuisine created by Chef Suren, including maki rolls, soft shell crab tempura, nigiri and edamame beans, while Head Bartender Angelo offers expert knowledge about the bar’s sake collection and Japanese cocktail menu.
