Canary Wharf is set to host the London SUP Open this September and is offering free paddle boarding sessions as well as yoga on the water classes to celebrate.

London SUP Open returns to east London will see paddle board pros cruise along Middle Dock and Wood Wharf's waters from Wednesday September, 14 to Sunday, September 18.

Part of the APP World Tour 2022, competitors race in relays, distance races and in sprints, battling it out for world titles and £25k.

To celebrate the competition, spectators can test their core strength and balance with paddle board yoga classes, as well as introductory sessions and open paddle board races for all ages and abilities, which will be on throughout the Open.

Sport demos and open water swimming sessions at Middle Dock will also take place, outside of competition time.

If you do actually know how to paddle board, Paddle for the Oceans is a 2.5km charity challenge that will raise money for ocean-related charities. This one takes place on the Sunday at 12.30pm. Register on appworldtour.com.

For those without sea legs, you can still enjoy the action without the risk of getting wet.

Montgomery Square will have free mini gold while the Summer Screens at Canada Square Park and Union Square will show more sport, other than the paddle boarding.

Once you're done with all that active rest, see what is going on in Canary Wharf's best restaurants and bars, such as Hawkesmoor, and Caravan, which are putting on festivities for the occasion.

The London SUP Open runs Wednesday September, 14 to Sunday, September 18 in Canary Wharf's Middle Dock and Wood Wharf.

Each day runs from 9am to 5pm, with a mix of competition events and things to do.
