From Pie’n’Rye cocktails and 12 litre Bloody Marys to salted caramel doughnuts and toffee apples, there’s no better way to celebrate 4th July than with some seriously tasty American cuisine. Here’s where to honour Independence Day in the capital this year

London’s famous steakhouse is launching a six course beef tasting menu this 4th July. Created by executive chef Barry Vera, it will feature four small dishes – beef ceviche, STK’s signature Lil BRGR, shin of beef ravioli and Asian beef – and that’s just for starters. A 300g USDA sirloin steak is served for main course with a side of parmesan truffle chips and STK sauce. Save room for STK’s playful Taste of the Fairground dessert; candy floss, toffee apples, cookie milkshake, peanut butter and raspberry macarons, salted caramel doughnuts and sweet shop marshmallows. The tasting menu is available for £55 per person for the month of July and £65 thereafter, where it will be on offer for parties of four or more by reservation only.

It’s no surprise that this New York institution is celebrating in style at its branch across the pond. Executive chef Robert Reid and his team will be serving up an extravagant weekend brunch, both inside the restaurant and at a pop-up in the nearby Covent Garden piazza. Diners will be treated to Bloody Mary pitchers, Scotch beef brisket, fancy hot dogs, “le sandwich américain”, the Stars and Stripes cookies, Union macaroons plus music from DJ and model Amber Le Bon at 3pm on Sunday. The brunch menu is available from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The pop-up will be in place from 11am to 8pm from Thursday, 2 until Sunday, 5 July.

If partying is more your style head over to this Chelsea cabin bar on Saturday, where an All-American marching band will give a patriotic performance at its Independence Day bash. Ice buckets of beer and Red Solo Cup cocktails including Giddy Up Strawberry, a fruity blend of bourbon whiskey, strawberries and ice-cream and the Pie’n’Rye made with bourbon whiskey, apples, vanilla ice cream and cinnamon, will be served throughout the night.

Craft brewery Brewdog is opening the doors of its latest bar Two-Bit on 4th July – and it’s perfect timing. The new venue, located beneath the brand’s main bar on Bethnal Green Road, is embracing the USA with bright lights and vintage arcade games.
