There’s plenty of opportunities to explore nature at the Chelsea Physic Garden this half term. Children can make their own floral arrangements out of fresh season flowers with a jar they painted themselves. You kids can also make soap, infused with fragrant plants and aromatherapy. Head to Battersea Power Station and make your way to the newly opened park and Prospect Park Playground. Opened in April the colourful  playground (8am-8pm) has areas suited to children across age groups, so kids can discover new bits of it as they grow. During the the holidays, the Design Museum has two creative workshops best suited to tweens and teens aged between 11 and 14. First up, you can design a sustainable shoebox city that has climate sustainability in mind. Workshop participants learn how to develop design convents and creative solutions and work in teams to bring projects to life and make 3D models using recycled and waste material. In the other workshop, participants experiment with instruments and found objects to make a soothing, relaxing soundscape that they record, edit and mix themselves. No experience of music-making needed for this one.

London Transport Museum’s Wheel-y Creative programme of half- term fun is filled with imaginative activities, workshops and storytelling that get you and your offspring exploring the museum as you hunt down facts and information to complete various tasks. Children can also get crafty by adding to a communal art piece using toy vehicles, and older children can design and create spirograph wheel designs to add to a ranges of different London vehicle templates. All aboard this self-drive boating trip which sees you putting along the Regent’s Canal. Boats fit up to 8 people (dogs are welcome) as you journey through Little Venice and through the Maida Hill Tunnel. For the jubilee, Biscuiteers has a number of events and activities going on, from afternoon teas, to regal icing classes and commemorative biscuits. You can try your hand at icing intricate royal designs – corgies, crowns, beefeaters – or there are more informal classes which you can decorate biscuits, free hand. A cavalcade of more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horse and 400 musicians come together to mark The Queen’s official birthday. The procession begins at Buckingham Palace and moves down The Mall to Horse Guard’s parade where it is joining by members of the royal family on horseback and in carriages. The ceremony finishes with the RAF fly past watched by The Queen and her family (but not Prince Andrew, Harry or Meghan) on Buckingham Palace’s balcony. In time for half-term fun as well as for jubilee celebrations, London Zoo’s Zoobilee Festival is a wildlife-themed celebration that pays tribute to the zoo’s Royal Patron, The Queen. A new outdoor gallery charts the zoo’s royal history and there’s a series of regal activities to entertain you. This includes children story-time sessions, face-painting, lawn games, and visits from four-legged friends including the zoo’s alpacas and pygmy goats. This will be one doozy of a street party. The Mayfair Jubilee Party close North Audley Street down to traffic and lines it with feasting and entertainment, flowing from Grosvenor Square to Oxford Street. The party’s theme, Let’s Go Fly a Kite draws on Mary Poppins and the nostalgia of summer fêtes. The set up includes a communal table for 300 people adorned with British spring flowers., and there will be plenty of dishes, cocktails and treats to sample from the neighbourhood’s dining spots.
