1 Sicilian Wine Dinner at The Petersham, Covent Garden

Petersham Nurseries will, host an intimate Sicilian Wine Dinner at its Covent Garden venue. Exploring the island's regions, from Vittoria to Mount Etna, diners will learn about the organic farming and winemaking techniques producers employ that date back to 4,000 BC. Enjoy the drops with a four-course meal, which will be specifically paired with six wines, and taken in The Petersham's delightful private dining room.

2 Sky Garden x Malfy Gin at City Garden Bar, City

Say farewell to London summer in style at the Sky Garden's Malfy Gin pop up. The capital's highest garden has been transformed into an Italian country escape (with London views), which comes with nibbles and gin. 3 Secret Cinema presents Guardians of the Galaxy, Wembley Park

Marvel nerds and film buffs unite for the latest Secret Cinema bonanza, this one in the not so secret location of Wembley Park. This time round, you will embark on an intergalactic journey and explore new territory with the Guardians. You can also opt in to watch the film as part of your experience too.

4 BBC Proms, South Kensington

Soak up the grandeur of the Royal Albert Hall while catching one of the last sessions of the BBC Proms. The eight-week classical music extravaganza wraps up in September, but there are still a few joys to watch, which pulls features the work of some of the world's top creative minds of the past and present including Philip Glass, Tilda Swinton, Beethoven and the Philadelphia Orchestra

5 Open House London

Open House London sees the capital's residents open their doors to the public, in a festival that champions design, architecture and community. Some of city's most iconic venues (along with unknown gems) reveal their secrets which are for you to discover through walking tours, art studio drop ins and self guided tours. There's even a vineyard to stumble upon and a witchcraft history tour.

6 Chelsea History Festival

The Chelsea History Festival is back again to take over three west London landmarks with a packed programme for the family. It lights up the National Army Museum, Royal Hospital Chelsea and Chelsea Physic Garden with tales from the past, including through the immersive History Street that could see you and the family learning how to sword-fight before shaking the hands of Tudors, Georgians and 17th century Brits.

7 Totally Thames Festival, Thames-side

The month-long festival celebrating London's river is back with loads of family fun. This includes Climate Grief Karaoke, a classic boat festival, choirs, art, mudlarking and The Great River Race with sees more than 300 crews compete in traditional boats.

8 Hallyu! The Korean Wave, V&A

9 Kew the Movies, Richmond

Squeeze in one last open air film screening as the outdoor cinema session starts to wind down. Held in the lovely Kew gardens, sessions run in the morning, afternoon and evening and screenings include sing-along sessions, Disney favourites, flick for adults such as Dune, No Time to Die and West Side Story, and flick for kids such as The Gruffalo and The Snail and The Whale. 10 Flower Power Brunch at Sexy Fish, Mayfair

London's number one erotic underwater themed venue, Sexy Fish in Mayfair is putting on a two-part brunch series as a last hurrah to summer that promises to be as extravagant, showy and theatrical as venue's reputation. Flower Power Brunch round one is on August bank holiday Saturday (Aug 27) while the other brunch date is September 17. Expect to feast on pan-Asian fishy dishes as well as the sea queen, gods and goddesses who are all part of the 'floral fantasy' underworld.

11 London Design Festival

LDF is back to take over London once again. 12 Gunpowder's Goan Food Festival, Soho & London Bridge

Michelin Bib Gourmand Gunpowder will celebrate India's coast cuisine with its Goan Food Festival, on at its Soho and Tower Bridge restaurants. The festival will showcase Goan, Konkani, Malvani and Karavali food traditions, which are all in turn peppered with historic Portuguese influence. Expect lots of seafood, and the same provenance-led approach which earned Gunpower its stellar rep.

13 Mexican Geniuses: A Frida & Diego Immersive Experience, Surrey Quays

Another immersive art experience, this one exploring the rich fantastical works of Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera. Sit in the immersive room and let some 300 projected artworks wash over you before you you trip into Mexico and a virtual reality Day of the Dead celebration inspired by artworks by the couple.

14 Greenwich Comedy Festival

For five nights, big names of comedy rub shoulders with stars on the rise in a string of mixed bill, open-air shows - your chance to see funny favourites while perhaps catching someone new before they blow up. Comedians include Alan Davies, Sindhu Vee, Frankie Boyle and Simon Amstell , who join the likes of Sophie Duker, Jamali Maddix and Tim Key for the festival, now in its 14th year.

15 HowTheLightGetsIn Festival, Hampstead

Put on by the Institute of Art and ideas, the annual music and philosophy festival brings together musicians, artist, scientists and comedians to celebrate ideas and creativity, and this year's theme is Error and Renaissance. On the music line up, Django Django, Gwenno, singer-songwriter Rosie Frater-Taylor and pop songstress Katie Mac. Speakers include moral philosopher Peter Singer, author Esther Freud and neurosurgeon Henry Marsh.

16 Camden Town Brewery's Tank Party

Hell's Lager brewer brings its Tank Party to London after a five-city UK tour to throw a bash fitting for an end of tour event at its Camden Beer Hall. Now in its 10th year, the Tank Party street party is filled with beers straight from the tank, street food and sub sandwiches, as well as workshops and activities for the kids.

17 Greenwich & Docklands International Festival, Greenwich Peninsula

This free outdoor family friendly festival kicks off this week, featuring a cacophony of immersive art installations, outdoor theatre, circus and dance performances for all to get involved in. Programme highlights include a large-scale projection on the facade of the Old Royal Naval College by Kyiv-based artists and SPARK, an environmentally-friendly light performance based on fireflies.

18 Jurassic World: The Exhibition, Royal Docks

For dinosaur lovers and fans of the blockbuster film series, this is your chance to rub shoulders with your most loved and feared prehistoric reptile. Jurassic World: The Exhibition opens this week so you can ride the glorious Elizabeth line to encounter prehistoric animals, including a life-sized Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus and T-Rex, which are also wandering around.

19 Edward Enninful in-conversation with Michaela Coel, Southbank Centre

British Vogue's first Black editor-in Chief Edward Enninful talks with I Will Destroy You writer Michaela Coel about challenging the fashion industry to make it more representational of the real world. The talk marks the release of his biography, A Visible Man, which outlines his journey as gay, Black, working-class refugee to a man of great cultural clout who made waves in the elitist world of fashion.

20 Neil Rankin + Acme Fire Cult Collab, Dalston

Popular new east London summer spot, Acme Fire Cult, are putting on a special menu for one night only in which vegetables are the guest of honour. Chefs Neil Rankin and Andrew Clarke will prepare a hearty BBQ feast from seasonal greens and Neil's zero waste products made from fermented vegetables. There's meat too on the menu form regenerative farms and day-boat fish, and AFC partner 40FT Brewery have made a beer for the evening with Neil's tomato water. Book ahead.
