London’s much-loved open air theatre has confirmed the line-up of productions for the year ahead
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced its schedule for 2016 – and it’s set to be another brilliant season of shows. So, what’s on?
Michael Morpurgo’s Running Wild will kick things off on 13 May. The story of a young boy’s adventure through Indonesia has been adapted by Samuel Adamson, who has worked with Chichester Festival Theatre to fully develop the play for its professional premiere.
Next up is one for fans of Shakespeare. To commemorate 400 years since the playwright’s death, Robert Hastie will direct Henry V from 17 June – 9 July. This will be followed by Jesus Christ Superstar, which will run from 15 July – 27 August to celebrate 45 years since Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical first arrived on stage.
After the sell-out success of the 2013 production of Pride and Prejudice, Simon Reade’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel will conclude the 2016 season from 2 – 17 September. This show will then embark on a major UK tour.
And it’s not too early to think about tickets! Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre Memberships are on sale now and priority booking for members will open at 11am, 12 November. Public booking opens at 11am, 8 December. Find out more at openairtheatre.com.
