1 Try Sachi's new menu at Pantechnicon, Belgravia

Found in Pantechnicon's lower ground, Japanese restaurant Sachi is several layers of delightful. Its chic interiors are as pleasing as they are relaxed and the new menu is a treat. Try the enoki tempura maki rolls, wagyu tataki and plump, moist bits of tuna, yellowtail and seabream sashimi. The restaurant also has an extensive sake selection, and chances are there's one or two on there that will surprise you.

2 Electric Winter at Between The Bridges, South Bank

The south bank alfresco bar gets a seasonal makeover come November, and its programme of events is as packed as ever. Christmas Sinalongs, festive family raves, the World Cup, drag brunches, bands DJs and heated covered areas run day and night, and there's a line up of festive food vendors, and the bar will mix a festive drink or two.

3 King's Cross' Après-Ski Christmas

Bringing an Alpine twist to Christmas and Kings's Cross, the neighbourhood's festive programme comes with curling, a huge Christmas tree, festive installations and an après ski bar, for festive hot chocolates, hot toddies, and alpine cocktails.

4 Covent Garden Christmas Switch on

Gosh Covent Garden does Christmas well. It even has snow. The piazza's impressive Christmas tree returns again this year, with razzle dazzle and glitz from more than 30,000 lights and glistening baubles. Head down for the Christmas launch to soak up the atmosphere and to then sneak in a cheeky kiss under one of the 45 mistletoe chandeliers which hang on the Market Building’s walls before joining the throng of shoppers and diners taking advantage of all the festive happenings.

5 EFG London Jazz Festival, London

Returning for it's 30th edition, the EFG London Jazz Festival brings world-class musicians to London's iconic music venues including the Barbican, Southbank Centre and Ronnie Scott's.
