The Museum of London Docklands is throwing its biggest street party yet to mark its 20th birthday.
Running this Saturday, June 10, live outdoor music, pub quizzes and a makers market are among the frivolity planned for the celebration.
The street party will take place from 7pm to 10pm and for adults only, and Ru Paul Drag Races’ Vanity Milan will lead the festivities and the pub quiz while arty party events team Hackney Showroom will host drag king Mr IPM and the Cocoa Butter Club’s Sadie Sinner the Songbird.
Street food vendors and pop-up bars will serve up a selection of food and drink, from craft beer and rum cocktails to Jamaican patties and stuffed roti, while the makers market will features goodies by local crafts people and brands such as limited edition prints from Nikki Braunton, earrings and bangles from Fable Jewellery and African fabrics from Dovetailed London.
There’s also arts and craft workshops in which you can make your own bunting or carnival headpiece. You could also get your portrait painted in front of you by east London artist, Mariam Hussein.
Things and stuff to do continue inside the museum, with the galleries open after hours for curated talks, tours and film screenings telling London’s history through fresh, perhaps unheard stories that touch on Notting Hill carnivals and other street parties and festivals that bring communities together.
London Museum Docklands street party takes place Saturday, June 10, tickets from £13.50 and available from museumoflondon.org.uk
