Property of the Week: Southbank Tower

The relaunch of the Southbank Tower in March should have been met with much fanfare, but the global coronavirus pandemic had other ideas…

The news that property viewings and house moves are allowed once again, following a change in government guidance, means that the stalled property market can start moving again.

From Wednesday 13 May, estate agents’ offices will be able to reopen and people in England can once more buy or rent a new property, view a property and move house.

Those shopping at the top end of the luxury market should make Southbank Tower one of their first ports of call. Video tours are also available, however, should you prefer a viewing from the comfort of your own home.

The prominent luxury riverside development of 37 apartments and four penthouses was acquired by a private investor in January 2018 with the aim of transforming the residential offering and relaunching it to the global property market.

A boutique collection of apartments have been furnished by Armani/Casa, while the lobby will be reimagined by Zaha Hadid Architects, and all this style comes with substance too, in the shape of a cultural programme led by world-leading theatre The Old Vic, located just over the road.

The programme offers access to leading speakers in arts and culture through intimate fireside talks and tailored gallery tours of new exhibitions – experiences not available in any other London residential location.

Buyers and residents can also enjoy personal art consultations in their homes courtesy of art curator Arianna Nourse.

‘Southbank Tower boasts one of the best locations in the world, with unrivalled views of London’s iconic skyline and historic landmarks,’ said Richard Gabelich from SF Asset Advisory, acting on behalf of the private investor delivering this project.

‘We want to enhance the Tower’s already exclusive offering to redefine what residents can expect from their living experience.

‘Working with Zaha Hadid Architects, Armani/Casa and The Old Vic perfectly complements the elegance and sophistication of the Tower and together we can elevate residents’ homes and lifestyle to create unique and inspiring collaborations within and around the Tower.’

Apartments in the Southbank Tower – two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses are available – offer phenomenal views across London, and the property also offers London’s largest roof garden at 10th floor level (ideal for a spot of socially distanced sunbathing).

There’s also a Residents’ lounge offering a private kitchen and dining room opening directly onto the roof garden – perfect for a summer soiree – as well as a 20-metre swimming pool with gym and spa, a state-of-the-art six-seater cinema, and 24-hour concierge and security.

Just entering the building will be a glorious experience once the lobby is transformed by Zaha Hadid Architects in an ambitious project inspired by the intricate, organic forms of flower petals. Work on the lobby was set to start in spring 2020 for an end-of-year completion, but some delay can be expected due to the lockdown.

Then, once you’re through your door, you’ll be surrounded by the understated elegance of Furnished by Armani/Casa, a project translating decades of global couture heritage into a beautiful new collection of apartments.

Plus, a bespoke curation of artworks, featuring acclaimed artists like Anthony Gormley, complements the colour palette and adds depth and interest to the decor.

Apartments are available from £2,000,000 for the premier units (2-3 bedroom) up to £5,750,000 for the black edition (3-4 bedroom), with the unique penthouse apartments available at price on application.
