As the new school year looms, parents with kids of a certain age will likely be contemplating school places – and that could well mean a house move is on the horizon.
Since competition for places at the top schools is intense, demand for properties in the relevant catchment area for the school of your choice will be high. In fact, a Department for Education report revealed that buyers need to spend 8% more to buy a house near the best primary schools, and 7% more to score a home near a top secondary school.
A recent study conducted by Confused.com revealed the average house price in England where schools have Ofsted rating 1 is £331,605, costing almost £40,000 more than areas with Ofsted rating 2 – for London, that’s £635,949, and £41,000 more.
If you’re shopping near the top-end of the property market and contemplating private education, however, property prices and catchment areas will be less of an issue, but convenience is still a huge factor in achieving that work and family life balance.
So what’s on the market near some of prime central London’s best schools?
