FEATURED PROMOTION

London decorators G.D Parvin transformed a reader’s Kingston house from dated and dark to a chic but practical modern family home, making clever use of the house’s space and light

In just five days G.D Parvin redecorated the kitchen and living area in Jacqualene Smith’s six-bedroom family home in the exclusive Coombe private estate in Kingston from a dark and formal Georgian-style property to a chic and modern family home.

Jacqualene chose light taupes and white in the kitchen to take full advantage of the light that floors into the interior thank to rooflights and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panel walls leading to the garden. To complement this, she opted for a subtly textured taupe wallpaper for feature walls in the living room.

G.D.Parvin’s team used their recommended range of Dulux Heritage trade paints. The Heritage range evolved from painstaking research into authentic historical pigments and includes palladian colours based on natural materials such as marble, alabaster and granite. G.D Parvin used Quartz Grey matt vinyl on the walls, a mid-toned warm but neutral grey typical of the historic ‘stone’ palette, and Dulux semi-gloss paints for the woodwork.

Geoff Parvin of G.D Parvin commented on the job: “It was a lovely house to work on. We loved Jacqualene’s colour choices, which take full advantage of all the natural light but still make the modern interiors feel homely.”

The team from G.D Parvin are now working on the exterior of the house, to bring it up to date.
