More About River Bespoke
Both Katie and Tim, the husband and wife team behind River Bespoke, had worked in high tech start-ups, but after spending three years renovating their Grade II* house in Cambridge, and tiring of the strains of Tim’s globetrotting, they started contemplating a move to Norfolk, a place they had always loved.
‘In April last year we actually decided to make it happen and we bought a house in Norfolk,’ said Katie.
‘We immediately started updating it to fit our style and, never finding quite the right “accessories”, started designing and making our own furniture and shelving so we could achieve a unique finish.
‘People have always commented on our designs and how beautiful they are, but it wasn’t until we had our kitchen fitted and received positive feedback from our kitchen company, Harvey Jones, that we decided to take a huge leap of faith and start our own business.
‘Tim, an engineer at heart, loves the creativity and engineering, while I get excited talking to potential clients and interior designers about projects and partnerships.
‘We love the fact that we have created something together, exploiting our strengths to achieve a shared goal.’
A word about the situation we find ourselves in
‘It’s going to be a quiet and difficult time for interior designers and bespoke furniture makers,’ said Katie, ‘but these times will pass, and the world will return to normal far better prepared than ever before.
‘I’m sure many of us will take this period of isolation to reflect on the homes we live in,’ said Katie. ‘This is when we realise how much we need our homes, and how important it is for them to be beautiful and functional.’
