Soho is home to one of London’s coolest new restaurants, a mirrored concept that has come all the way from Paris.

Daroco is based near to Tottenham Court Road station and has an Italian theme to its menu.

Having opened in 2016 in Paris, Daroco tells the encounter between Paris and Italy.

Architect Olivier Delannoy drew inspiration from the Renaissance movement, with an open counter and pizza oven leaning into the 120-seat dining room.

The Resident:

The ceiling is mirrored which bodes for the perfect photo, Instagram or TikTok post, and it makes you feel like you’ve been transformed into a world that isn’t just the streets of Soho.

It’s one of those interiors best described with a picture, with words difficult to do justice how special it really is.

Executive Chef Daniele De Luca infuses style into the restaurant, with pizzas rediscovered and fresh, handmade pastas in all shapes, textures, and flavours.

Downstairs is intimate cocktail bar the Wacky Wombat, like a Tropical Jungle with dim lighting and a celebratory ambience.

I went to Daroco on a Saturday evening for dinner with my boyfriend – it’s the perfect date night spot or a place for a catch up with friends over some good food and good wine.

We really fancied a fun night out, and Daroco is the perfect place for a really vibey atmosphere with hints of romance and excitement in too.

Our waitress helped us to choose a bottle of red wine, and she recommended one which went down like an absolute treat. She asked us our requirements, we told her, and she delivered.

The Resident:

We snacked on some tomato and olive focaccia while we pondered over the rest of the menu and deliberated over how we were going to choose just one meal.

I ended up going for the burrata to start, and my boyfriend had the roasted scallops. I’d never had burrata with mushrooms, but it made a nice pairing, and my boyfriend said his scallops were delicious too.

The Resident:

Our main courses were just as wonderful despite it being almost impossible to choose between such appetising sounding pizzas, pastas, meats and fish options.

We both decided to go for a pasta to avoid any food envy of each other – and my spaghetti with tuna, tomatoes, capers sauce and olives was something of dreams.

I did ask for no olives, which the restaurant accommodated to with no issues, but the pasta tasted so fresh and so did the sauce and the fish it came with.

The Resident:

I couldn’t get enough of it, and my boyfriend felt the same way with his lobster pasta.

I could rave about the main courses all day, but the star of the show was without a doubt the dessert.

I ordered the chocolate mousse and my boyfriend the Tiramisu. I can’t comment on his because I don’t eat Tiramisu but that chocolate mousse was the most heavenly thing I’ve ever tasted.

The Resident:

It was decadent, smooth, moist, sweet with chunks of salt to balance it out, and I’ve honestly been dreaming of it ever since.
