Petersham Nurseries in Richmond will bring back The School of Garden Inspiration this May, following a two-year halt on in-person workshops due to the pandemic.

The programme of classes and workshops focus on horticultural creativity, offering tips and advice to all gardeners, whatever your experience.

The programme of events has been created by Thomas Broom-Hughes (ex-Petersham Head of Horticulture, ex-RHS), and will cover things like summer containers, slow gardening and houseplants.

Throughout the series, Petersham Nurseries’ expert gardeners will share their knowledge and expertise, inspire creativity, and promote a sustainable approach to gardening and floristry.

Workshops include one focused on growing roses and covers things like how to plant and prune a rose bush, rose varieties, how to arrange them in your home, and how to cook with them too.

The Stylish Summer Containers class on May 24 (£75) is Petersham Nurseries’ signature seasonal container workshop where gardeners look at colour, shape, scent and form to create beautiful flower containers of all shapes.

Gardeners can also focus on British flowers and how to use them to create a striking bouquet, brush up on how to garden ethically, working with the seasons and in a mindful way.

Autumnal classes include A Celebration of Dahlias and a workshop on creating stylish autumn containers, and another looks at how to use houseplants to create eye-catching drama in your home, as well as looking at how to care and propagate indoor plants.

Participants will make a terrarium, and if you’ve got particular rooms that need some plant love, Petersham experts can offer solutions for your home.

Prices and times vary between classes and read on for the full list of workshops.
