Over 60 guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés at our exclusive evening with Caribbean resort expert Essential Detail on Tuesday 9 June.

Two lucky winners were thrilled to win an amazing holiday each at the event – a seven-night, all-inclusive stay at the world-class Curtain Bluff resort in Antigua (with British Airways Club World flights) and a five-night stay at Jamaica Inn, Jamaica, including all meals.

There was also an opportunity to learn more about Essential Hotel Collection (Essential Detail’s UK booking office for a small collection of luxury boutique Caribbean hotels) and hear from the charismatic hotel managers themselves who had flown over especially to share their knowledge about their stunning properties.

Guests were drawn into the laid-back atmosphere of Caribbean life with the evocative sound of traditional steel drums playing on their arrival. Mahiki’s bar staff were on hand to serve the venue’s infamous Mahiki Punch, while the canapés included tuna with soy and sesame, chicken teriyaki, mini burgers, spicy chicken wings with coriander and lime, plus goats’ cheese and red onion tartlet.

Annette Quinn and Helen Edwards, Co-Directors of Essential Detail took to the stage to pass on their knowledge of the Caribbean and introduce each beautiful hotel. The company, which is run by a small team of five based near Hampton Court in London, manages properties in Grenada, St Lucia, The Grenadines, Barbados and Jamaica.

All guests left with a luxury Aqua Di Parma Colonia goody bag, which also contained Essential Detail’s new publication ‘It’s All About the Experience’.

Essential Detail’s ethos is unique in that it is neither a tour operator or a hotel although the team can recommend travel companies for packages. The company offers a reservations service for its hand-picked luxury Caribbean hotels, so the team can offer the best available rates and offers. Each member has excellent, long-standing relationships with the hotels and can advise customers on everything they need to know from the best way to island-hop to knowing how to book a romantic dinner on the beach.
