Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers Opens its First London Gallery

Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers Chairman Guy Schooling realised a long-held ambition to establish a central London presence with the acquisition of 15 Cecil Court at the beginning of 2019.

Located in the theatre district, adjacent to the vibrant Covent Garden, Cecil Court is truly one of central London’s hidden gems – a picturesque Victorian thoroughfare with quirky second-hand book shops, antique shops and art galleries.

Already a favourite among collectors of antiquarian books, maps and silver, Cecil Court is ‘the perfect setting for us take residence and proudly open our new Gallery space’, says Schooling.

Sworders London Gallery, with 700 square feet of exhibition space and a private valuation room, hosts a dynamic range of auction previews, events and valuation days.

The gallery also continues to welcome members of the public to visit throughout the week for valuations and sales advice across a range of specialisms, including Asian art, jewellery, designer and luxury items, pictures, prints, silver, antiques and collectables. Insurance services and probate work are also on offer in the gallery (although home visits can be arranged for larger collections and estate valuations).

Sworders recently appointed Stephen Giles to drive consignments in London. Giles, who has worked for more than 20 years at leading auction houses in London and Geneva, is a jewellery specialist offering valuations by appointment from the gallery or at clients’ home or workplace, as well as general valuations for art and antiques.
