LUZIA, a waking dream of Mexico, will feature the draw-dropping skill and mesmerising acrobatics Cirque du Soleil are known for in a visually stunning performance.
Starting on January 12, the show invites audience members to escape into an imaginary Mexico – a sumptuous world existing somewhere between dream and reality encompassing old movie sets, arid desert, and a smokey dance hall.
It’s also the most technically demanding show to be performed on the hall’s stage, and brings traditional and contemporary circus to a whole new level.
Cyr wheel artists roll and spin under the rain while an aerialist suspended from a trapeze flies and twirls through pouring showers.
Hoop diving is taken onto gigantic treadmills, expanding exponentially the speed and amount of leaps executed.
The show also includes a contortionist twisting into the unimaginable positions, an aerial straps specialist defying gravity, a juggler tossing seven pins at breakneck speed, and two football freestylers deftly mixing street dance with ball manipulation.
The show also marks 25 years since Cirque Du Soleil performed at the iconic venue for the first time with the show Saltimbanco.
