The Source, an event planning website where hand-picked creative brands meet inspiring ideas to help you create the perfect event, was founded by Aron Schlagman and Talya Zysblat two years ago. Here, ahead of the first The Source Live event, they share their top five tips for event planning, from weddings to birthdays and even corporate events…
When throwing any kind of party, be it birthday, wedding or otherwise, sticking to a budget is imperative. Be realistic in what you include and think creatively. Hold a little back for final touches and consider insurance when hiring a venue.
Formal or informal – canapes, bowl food, buffet or plated – there are many choices. Your food should showcase the vibe of your event and also needs to be considered in relation to the venue in which you plan to host your party. Showcase your creativity.
Pick them yourself (a visit to New Covent Garden Flower Market at 5am is an experience!) or even opt for a mass of different shaped candles – but remember the decor provides one of your biggest ‘take your breath away moments’, even if you’re entertaining at home.
4 Capture the Moment
It’s a special occasion, memories need to be properly photographed. Don’t be fooled by smartphones – everybody is not, in fact, a photographer, and certainly no David Bailey! Have a professional dedicated to capturing your most precious moments.
5 Special Touches
It’s not the cost that sets your party apart from everyone else’s – it’s time and thought. Special touches show your guests that you have given real consideration to what is going to make the event memorable and personal – and make them feel special.
The Source Live
Since setting up The Source, a hand-picked collection of creative brands plus inspiring ideas to help you create the perfect event, founders Aron Schlagman and Talya Zysblat have always wanted to bring the directory to life.
And now they are, with The Source Live, a hands-on experience that provides you with the opportunity to meet the creative brands who can help bring your dream to life.
Taking place at The Hoxton in Holborn on Saturday 9 September, the event will offer up the chance to try your hand at cocktail making, cake decoration, creating floral bouquets and even a stab at being a DJ at the mixing tables. There will also be demos, Q&As and roving entertainment.
Meet event specialists such as The Photo Booth Guys, LiquidChefs, Flourish & Plume, Maid of Gingerbread, Light Up Letters, Kate Swerdlow Photography, Georgias Cakes, Very Madly Makeup, Festival In A Box and more. Tickets are £10 per family, available here: eventbrite.com
