Richmond Theatre is to host its first ever Creative Learning Festival
From Wednesday 23 to Saturday 26 July, Richmond Theatre will see over 200 of its Creative Learning participants, from ages 5 to 85, come together to present the first Creative Learning Festival, comprising of five varied, inspiring and entertaining shows.
Each will be performed by a different Creative Learning group, giving its members a unique opportunity to present their work to the general public for the first time. The shows are Dazzle, a thrilling new youth musical from the Richmond Musical Theatre Company with plenty of song, dance and toffee apples, The Suitcase Stories, which sees both the Youth Theatre and Adult Acting Company integrate British Sign Language into a unique reworking of Grimm Tales, Lovely Letters, a funny, moving and inspirational story performed by the Young Actors Company, With Disparate Voices, an immersive theatrical experience from the imaginations of the Richmond Writers and finally Celebration!, a musical extravaganza drawing on the talents of over 200 performers from all of the Creative Learning groups to bring the festival to a close.
Besides drumming up an audience for their talented pool of Creative Learning participants, Richmond Theatre are also encouraging others to get involved in the festival, by creating a special Family Choir for the closing event on Saturday 26th July. Parents of children in the RT Youth Theatre groups, family and friends, and members of the general public are welcome to become a part of the Richmond Theatre Family for this one off performance. The Family Choir will perform as a chorus supporting the existing Richmond Theatre Community Choir which was formed last September, to create a full concert sound for the festival finale. No auditions are required, just plenty of enthusiasm, and any interested individuals, couples or families should email email@example.com by 1st July for more information.
To help make this festival a resounding success, Richmond Theatre’s Creative Learning team are also recruiting a team of Festival Volunteers to assist with the organisation of events, from first rehearsals to production nights themselves.
Nicola Ward, Creative Learning Manager, says: “We are so excited to be able to put on the first Richmond Theatre Creative Learning Festival this year, and show the local community the fantastic output our groups are capable of. This can only be made possible, however, with the help of volunteers eager to help make the festival a reality. We would love anyone eager to contribute to an exciting new community project to get in contact and become a part of our team”.
