Brown’s Hotel, Mayfair, is launching its inaugural London Art Weekend to coincide with London Art Week, 4th-11th July. The event, from 5th-6th July, is supported by The Royal Academy and Westminster Council, with over 100 art galleries taking place, ranging from modern art to antiquities and including Christies, White Cube and PACE. The galleries will be hosting free talks throughout the weekend, while Brown’s Hotel will have a team of volunteers helping visitors navigate their way around salons full of old masters and cavernous halls filled with contemporary art, as well as suggesting themed walks around the city, an opportunity for art lovers to explore the great private galleries that London has to offer.
Brown’s Hotel has always had a strong affiliation with art and it will be the base for many visitors over London Art Week. Mark Hix has put together a menu for The Hix Art Brunch, which costs £60 per head and will be hosted by Jan Dalley, Arts Editor at the Financial Times, who will be in conversation with leading figures in the art world such as Philip Mould.
Mark Hix said of the event; “Being a long-term patron of the arts and supporting both well-known and new artists, it makes sense that we should have a bit of fun and celebrate by hosting Brown’s London Art Weekend, home of HIX Mayfair, in the hub of the West End gallery scene. In between gallery hopping, pop into Hix Mayfair for an art break brunch and a glass of bubbly.”
Each participating gallery will be open from 10am – 5pm on Saturday 5th and 12 noon – 5pm on Sunday 6th July. To sign up for talks and to book places at the Hix Art Brunch, visit londonartweekend.co.uk
