Today is the day! November 8 2016 is the day of the US Presidential Election. We’re five hours ahead of Washington DC, which means we should be waking up to news of the new US President tomorrow morning (the last polling stations should close around 4am UK time). Unless, that is, you want to stay up all night watching the results roll in, and London has a couple of parties that’ll let you do just that…
1 Popbitch Presidential Party
Street Feast is hosting a Presidential Party with Popbitch at Dinerama in Shoreditch. From dinner until dawn (8pm-6am), there will be 10 hours of celebrating or commiserating the run up to and the declaration of the result. Your £50 ticket gets you food, booze, coffee and party games (Pin the Toupée on the Trump, a Popbitch Popquiz and a Swing State Prediction Competition). For brilliant craft beers, make a stop at the American Beer Bar – or join in Presidential Top Trumps for your chance to win a bottle of top-shelf whisky. If you’re in it for the long run then stock up on alcohol free energy drinks at the FunkenTrumper Bar, or head upstairs to Obamarama for great coffee. Tickets include a pint of Obama’s favourite beer (Goose Island 312) and a shot of bourbon, an all-you-can-eat street food buffet of American classics and a survivors’ breakfast including unlimited coffee).
Tickets available via eventbrite.co.uk
2 The Blues Kitchen’s All-American Election Night Party
Putting the party into politics, The Blues Kitchen on Curtain Road in Shoreditch is throwing an All-American celebration/consolation Election Party in anticipation of the results. A big brass band will parade through rows of star-spangled flags, confetti and tears, while free ‘Victory/End-Of-The-World’ shots and ‘Freedom/End-Of-the-World’ nachos are circulated from 5pm on Tuesday 8 November. There will also be a Trump Voodoo doll in the corner for guests to release in a healthy way to live hot steppin’ Jazz from 9.45pm. You can also enjoy the Trump Tower burger with a rich triple-stack of beef patties, American orange cheese and a blonde toupee of crispy golden onions – served with a Mexican-friendly edible wall of nachos and welcoming Big Apple ‘slaw – at the Brixton, Camden and Shoreditch sites until the end of 8 November (£14).
