Win a two-night weekend stay in a junior suite at the Hilton Cambridge City Centre with bed and breakfast and a sumptuous three-course dinner

Picture yourself on a boat on a river, whiling away the weekend on a punting excursion along the River Camb, after a refreshing night’s sleep at the Hilton Cambridge City Centre… Courtesy of the new team, headed by experienced manager Richard Finn, The Resident is delighted to offer you the chance to visit for yourself.

In the heart of the city, this stylish hotel opened its fully refurbished doors as a Hilton for the first time last December. Since then, it’s proved itself to be the setting of choice for tourists who come to appreciate the attractions of the university town, as well as catering for large events in a spacious atrium.

‘I’m looking forward to meeting our new guests and welcoming them to this fabulous hotel,’ says Finn. ‘I’ve been lucky enough to live in a number of different countries around the world, but I’m thrilled to be settling down in this beautiful city.’ With its iconic dreaming spires, Cambridge is now also acquiring a reputation as a major hub for business and innovation.

The city is accessible via short train journey. You can get to Cambridge in just 45 minutes from London King’s Cross. Once you’ve checked in, all the attractions on offer are within easy walking distance. You’ll be tracing the footsteps of the university’s many notable alumni, from Lord Byron and William Wordsworth to Stephen Fry and John Cleese.

We recommend the beautiful King’s College Chapel, the Fitzwilliam Museum and the Cambridge University Botanic Garden as itinerary essentials for art and antique lovers. Not, of course, discounting the boutique shopping and historic watering holes set alongside modern retail outlets and contemporary bars.

Once you’ve admired the passageways, colleges and river views – and perhaps even discovered the remains of settlements dating back to the Bronze Age and Ancient Roman times – you can re-energise in the fitness room, put your feet up in your smartly furnished suite, and enjoy the relaxing bar downstairs. Chefs at the Book Room restaurant use seasonal, local produce where possible, while the comfortable lounge is the perfect setting for an indulgent afternoon tea, a cocktail or a glass of wine.
