If you’re looking for a new place to get your hair done that combines hairdressing excellence in a stylish and intimate setting, you’ll love Matthew Curtis’ salon at the Rosewood hotel on High Holborn.

Deep in the basement of the hotel, next to the spa, leading hairdresser Matthew has taken inspiration from the Orient Express and created a tiny wood-panelled salon complete with old-fashioned lights and trunks.

Here, you’ll get to talk to your stylist without the roar of hundreds of hairdryers in the background and enjoy true one-to-one pampering. Kevin has put together a top team of stylists who offer everything from a blow dry to full colouring treatments and cuts.

On the afternoon I visited, the talented Jason Collier was on duty. Having worked with a host of celebrities, Jason is used to high demands and his easy-going manner will put anyone’s mind at rest.

He really took time to listen to what I wanted, both in terms of cut and colour and I left the salon really happy with my blunt bob and natural-looking highlights.

If you’re thinking of changing your hairdresser this year, I can’t recommend Matthew Curtis’ salon enough. It’s a swanky place to have your hair done, but more importantly, you’ll get a hairdo that you really love.

After all, as Coco Chanel quite rightly said, ‘A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.’

A cut and blow dry starts from £70; an express blow dry starts from £30. See rosewoodhotels.com
