1. British Military Fitness
If you’re serious about getting into shape, British Military Fitness could be for you. As well as running around London’s iconic parks, you’ll get to work out using kettlebells, power bags and boxing gear, with a group of like-minded (and brave) fitness enthusiasts. britmilfit.com
2. Gorilla Circus
The Flying Trapeze School will be returning to Regent’s Park this summer, where anyone can join the Gorilla Circus and learn to fly during a two hour class. Priceless fun. gorillacircus.com
3. Paradise Park
It’s not unique in Islington as other parks also offer outdoor gym equipment, but Paradise Park gets our nod as you can relax in the Mary Tealby Peace Garden post-workout. islington.gov.uk
4. Bootcamp Outdoor Fitness
We have often enjoyed a leisurely stroll in Highbury Fields on a pleasant summer’s day – and this takes things up a notch with a fabulous all body workout. armybootcampfitness.co.uk

5. Innovation Sports race series
Runners of all abilities should head to Clapham Common to participate in one of the Innovation Sports’ runs. There’s a 2k race for little ones, plus five distances for adults – 5k, 10k or 15k. Runs take place several times a year (the next is 23 August) so there’s plenty of time for training. innovationsports.co.uk
6. Tooting track
Nestled in the middle of Tooting Common, Tooting Bec Athletics Track is a great place for an outdoor workout. There’s a fully-equipped gym inside, but take to the track for a few circuits to really push your running goals. wandsworth.gov.uk
7. Hampstead Heath pond
Open-air swimming at Hampstead Heath is world renowned with its Ladies’ Pond, the Mens’ Pond, the Mixed Pond and the Parliament Hill Lido. cityoflondon.gov.uk
8. Park Run
Parkrun organise free, weekly 5k runs at several locations throughout the city, including Richmond Park and Wimbledon Common. The advantage of taking part in one is that they’re timed, so you can set yourself goals and work (or run) towards them. parkrun.org.uk
9. Vogue d’Argent
This summer, the City’s Coq d’Argent is teaming up with the House of Voga to host monthly Voga classes. Not sure what it is? A fusion of yoga and ‘vogueing’ to an 80s soundtrack. coqdargent.co.uk

10. Yogarise
Yogarise has set up camp on the eighth floor of the Stratford Centre and the rooftop of B Block at the Bussey Building in Peckham. With classes led by some of capital’s best instructors plus panoramic views on offer at both venues, yogis will be in heaven here. yogarise.com
11. Holland Park’s outdoor gym
If you want to work up a sweat outdoors but prefer to go solo, visit Holland Park’s free outdoor gym. It can be busy in the summer months, but on the plus side, it’s free. wicksteed.co.uk
12. Brockwell Park Lido
When the sun is shining, spend the day swimming in the waters of Brockwell Lido, in the middle of Brockwell Park.
