Ever wondered where London’s style set like to hang out? Fashion Foie Gras blogger Emily Johnston tells us why she loves West London and recommends a few great shopping spots

The Resident:

Former PR Emily Johnston founded Fashion Foie Gras six years ago. Since then, the US-born writer has become one of the UK’s leading fashion bloggers thanks to her daily posts on shopping advice, trend tips and her personal style edit.

When Emily’s not blogging about her ‘outfit du jour,’ or travelling for work across the pond, she can be found enjoying the food and fashion haunts near her West London home. She tells us where she likes to hangout in her favourite area, Notting Hill, below.

What do you love the most about Notting Hill?

I love how it feels like a beautiful and secluded neighbourhood in a giant city! It is a little oasis, my place of calm.

Where are you favourite places to eat out in the area?

I swear by The Electric. Best food and atmosphere in the area. I also love E&O for sushi!

Where do you like to go shopping?

I feel like the area is constantly changing but at the moment I’m in love with the little boutique called The Jacksons. Their edit is surreal.

Notting Hill has some great vintage shops. What are you tips for finding retro buys?

It’s all about the hunt. Go in with an open mind and you’ll discover a gem you never even knew you needed.

When it comes to style, what does London have that other cities don’t?

Freedom. You can literally wear anything here and not feel out of place. It’s all about a statement.

When you want to find peace and quiet in the capital, where do you go?

I go to Hampstead Heath and sit on Parliament Hill. This is one of my favourite places in London! It is above it all, providing peace and quiet with a beautiful view.

What’s the best piece of style advice you’ve heard?

If you feel good, you look good. No matter what.
