What’s not to love about Elizabeth Street? A stone’s throw from Sloane Square, it is home to some of London’s best boutiques, and the latest resident is no exception. Say hello to Bionda Castana – fashion’s favourite shoe brand.

Sitting directly opposite Baker & Spice, the flagship store is a small but perfectly formed showcase for Natalia Barbieri and Jennifer Portman’s much-loved label. Designed in London and crafted by hand in Italy, Bionda Castana’s creations boast style and substance in equal parts.

Classic with a twist is the vibe here, for Natalia and Jennifer always have the modern London girl in mind. “Lifestyle doesn’t always lend itself to high heels – sometimes you’re just not good at heels, and you very rarely see London girls rocking a 12cm heel on the tube,” Natalia told The Resident. “The way we design our products is for comfort – you don’t have to sacrifice the design purely because it’s a mid-heel.”

Currently lining the walls are models from the Pre Fall/Fall collection – including the must-have midi Mimi boots, already proving popular with the duo’s loyal clientele. There are also myriad courts to choose from, ranging from the ladylike Lama pumps, worn by Natalia on our visit, through to the cult Lana’s – both girls’ go-to party shoe.

Though their heels are a front-row fixture, worn by the likes of Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung, Natalia and Jennifer want everyone to be part of the family, opening up their store with fabulous customer events and parties.

So what are you waiting for? Life is too short to only wear flats. Thankfully, Bionda Castana’s mid-heels strike a very happy medium.

The store opens today at 73 Elizabeth Street, Belgravia, London, SW1W 9PJ
