Val d’Isère is a ‘must-ski’ resort. Linked with Tignes to create Espace Killy, you have one of Europe’s, if not the world’s, best ski resorts with some 300 km of pistes and unrivalled snow from late November until May. And we might just have found a way to make it even more fabulous…

Renowned for it’s après-ski, Val d’Isere is a resort that may conjure fond memories of dancing the day away at La Folie Douce.

But, of course, there’s also great skiing, and – whisper it – a new family-friendly ski chalet run by quite possibly the most exclusive operator in the market. Allow me to introduce you to the wonderful world of Consensio, which promises to cater to your every whim.

At 6,500 sq ft, to describe their Chalet Calistoga as ‘snug’ would be misleading. It boasts five sumptuous en suite bedrooms, a dining area, open-plan living room, media room, children’s games room, indoor pool, sauna, spa and treatment rooms, yet still manages to feel homely thanks to the rustic exposed stone walls, timber beams and open fireplace.

The concierge service takes ‘personalised’ to a whole new level, and there’s also free-flowing Perrier Jouet, a chalet manager, chef, housekeeper and chauffeur, which makes any outing stress-free.

On arrival, an in-chalet ski fitting (ours was provided by Sweet Ski) allows you to kick back and enjoy yourself from the off. After a day out on the slopes with Consensio’s recommended instructors from Progression and TDC ski, talented masseuses from Ski Physio are on call to provide relief for tired legs.

Consensio client requests are often outrageous, but are guaranteed to be met with a flourish: there have been Frozen-themed fancy dress parties, a chalet run on Hong Kong time and a garden of snow melted in search of a lost ring, among the more sedate.

The culinary jewel in the crown of a stay with Consensio is their recent collaboration with Tom Cenci, Head Chef of Duck & Waffle

In our case, we happily cocooned ourselves by the fire, only to be surprised with a live music performance. The culinary jewel in the crown of a stay with Consensio is their recent collaboration with Tom Cenci, Head Chef of Duck & Waffle, and during our fireside soirée we gorged ourselves on Cenci’s fabulous canapès.

His creations are sustenance enough to set you up for the most gruelling day of off-piste skiing or snowboarding. Instead, we took the opportunity to take a guided snow shoeing hike, which led us through the streams and forests of Le Fornet. It proved to be a magical morning, rounding off the ultimate fantasy ski holiday.

Consensio Chalets offers Chalet Calistoga in Val d’Isere from £17,500 per week, based on 10 guests sharing 5 rooms on a fully inclusive basis. This price includes use of all the chalet’s facilities, all meals and an in-resort chauffeur.
