Wellness tourism booming and cruising is enjoying a new lease of life. Put them together and what do you get? The world’s first active lifestyle cruise line with an entire deck for sports, exercise and wellbeing
With wellness tourism booming and cruising enjoying a new lease of life, Blue World Voyages is making an exciting, well-timed move in the world of travel, launching a cruise fully dedicated to active, athletic, healthy lifestyles. It’s the first company in the global cruise industry to do so.
The inaugural ship, scheduled for a summer 2019 launch in the Mediterranean, will be a break from conventional cruising, with one entire deck designated for sports, exercise and wellness, and a second dedicated to spa and rejuvenation. With locally-sourced farm-to-table cuisine, active shore excursions, partnerships with experts and leading brands, it is set to be the ultimate cruise experience for wellness-minded adults.
The bow to stern Sports Deck is outfitted with golf and soccer simulators, batting cages, a functional training centre, yoga, spinning and TRX studios, as well as three pools, including a sea water ‘lap pool’ for open-water swim training. On the Spa deck, guests can enjoy a relaxing therapy tub, indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and solarium.
‘Blue World Voyages was created for health-conscious individuals, sports and fitness enthusiasts, and those in search of personal improvement,’ said Gene Meehan, Chairman and Founder.
‘Our focus on Active Lifestyle Cruising is not an option or an add-on. It forms the core of our overall cruise travel experience, deeply embedded into every aspect of the company, from ship design and onboard programmes to dining options and itineraries.’
The global wellness industry is now worth $4.2 trillion, and wellness tourism is currently experiencing a 6.5% annual growth – more than double the growth rate for overall tourism. The revolutionary new cruise will also meet the growing demand from travellers who are keen to stay healthy and active while on holiday.

Making further waves in industry waters, Blue World Voyages is also set to become the first cruise line to invite passengers to become business partners, participating in the formation of the company through its Owners Club, with 26 luxury one- and two-bedroom residences, and Founders Club, open to the first 500 individuals investing in the company’s crowdfunding campaign (UK platform soon to be announced).
Each week, Blue World Voyages will sail on seven-day voyages with 350 like-minded passengers who have an interest in living active, healthy lives. The 5-Star ‘casual’ ships will roam the world, with ports of call selected based on the availability of activities such as cycling, hiking, golf and watersports; access to areas conducive to yoga and meditation, and opportunities for cultural and learning experiences.
