What are Natural Fertility Treatments & Do they Work?

If you’re trying to get pregnant but have been unsuccessful – perhaps IVF has failed or you’re struggling to conceive naturally – you might want to consider holistic fertility treatments.

Dr Ashish Paul, senior practitioner at Ashishveda clinic in central London, specialises in natural fertility and helps to improve people’s chances of having a baby while boosting their health along the way.

Here, Dr Ashish explains what natural fertility treatments are and how they can help couples to conceive naturally.

What are natural fertility treatments?
Many couples who are struggling to get pregnant think that IVF is their only option, but natural remedies and therapies can be just as effective at increasing their chances and can be used in conjunction with traditional medicines. My approach to natural fertility is based on the scientific principles of Ayurveda – a holistic medicine system that originates from India and is still used across the western world to treat a variety of ailments. Ayurvedic treatments for infertility look at the body as a whole, including physical, emotional and nutritional health, as well as lifestyle.

What treatments do you offer?
My holistic treatments include a combination of antioxidant herbal remedies and physical therapies such as fertility massage, yoga, breathing techniques and natural colonic therapy, all of which help to rejuvenate the mind and body. I also specialise in psychological therapies including NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), which is a way of changing a person’s thoughts and behaviours to help them achieve their personal goal. As well as being a medical issue, fertility is a process of the mind – a lot of people have doubts or fears surrounding pregnancy, which can be exaggerated by miscarriages or failed IVF. My natural fertility techniques aim to boost confidence, promote relaxation and address underlying issues of the psyche that may be preventing someone from conceiving.

Who is it suitable for?
Natural fertility treatments are suitable and safe for everyone and have no side effects. I work specifically with people who have been on a fertility journey and haven’t had much success. This could be through repeated IVF failures or people who are struggling to conceive naturally, particularly those aged over 35. I also specialise in the treatment of endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome which can lead to fertility issues.

How successful is it?
The main benefits include improved egg and sperm quality and quantity, as well as enhanced physical intimacy. In addition to these results, my clients feel more supported, which is incredibly important when facing fertility difficulties. Doctors don’t always have the time to listen to concerns and worries and it can be quite a clinical process. My method is much more personal, and my clients feel relaxed, more trusting and ready to accept whatever the outcome may be.

How long does it take?
Consistency is key with natural fertility treatments. I offer a three-month, one-to-one programme or a group mentoring programme which lasts for six weeks. I also recommend at least four Ayurvedic therapy sessions to help achieve results.

How do you support women and couples during this difficult time?
Fertility issues are extremely personal and everyone’s journey is different. I take the time to listen to my clients and understand every aspect of their physical and emotional health, to offer personalised support and advice. My unique package is comprehensive and completely bespoke, and I also offer some treatments online if it isn’t convenient to attend the clinic.
