Burberry reveals its 2015 festive campaign inspired by the film and musical Billy Elliot
Of all the Christmas ad campaigns, Burberry’s must be the most star-studded.
For 2015, the iconic British fashion house has recruited a few of its favourite actors, musicians and models to star in a festive film dedicated to Billy Elliot.
The three minute clip was shot in London under the direction of the brand’s Chief Creative Officer Christoper Bailey. As for the cast? The line-up features Sir Elton John, James Corden, Julie Walters, Romeo Beckham, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and her brother Toby, Michelle Dockery, James Bay and George Ezra. Just a few famous faces.
You might recognise the footage used in the clip, too. It has been inspired by and includes the opening sequence of Billy Elliot, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. In recognition of County Durham, where the film is set, Burberry is also making a donation of £500,000 to be split between two local charities, Place2Be and the County Durham Community Foundation.
‘Billy Elliot is an incredible film full of so much joy and energy, so it was a real thrill and a great honour to be able to celebrate its 15 year anniversary through our Festive campaign,’ Bailey says of his new camapgin. ‘It was also a huge privilege to work with such amazing and iconic British talent – the cast are quite simply some of the biggest names in film, music and fashion and it was so much fun working with them all to make this special film.’
Of course, the launch of the film coincides with the arrival of Burberry’s Christmas gifts in store and online at Burberry.com. Highlights include the Heritage trench coat, cashmere scarves and the brand’s new Bucket bags. Happy shopping!
The Burberry Festive Film will be premiered on Tuesday 3 November at the brand’s flagship store, 121 Regent Street, London. The campaign will then be shared from 7pm across all Burberry’s social platforms.
