Warmer summers mean that English cottages with outdoor swimming pools are more covetable than ever. They’re also a great way to keep family members of all ages entertained if a summer staycation is top of your list. 1 Trelowarren, Cornwall

2 Hop Pickers Rural Retreats, Worcestershire
Hop Pickers Barn, Cabin and Hideaway are three picturesque dog-friendly retreats in a peaceful location close to the river Teme near the Malvern Hills. The heated outdoor swimming pool (operational mid-May to early September) is shared between all three properties and kept at a very pleasant 27ºC with sun loungers and chairs. The Cabin and Hideaway also have their own private hot tubs. Other onsite facilities in the spacious grounds include a woodland walk with wildlife hide, tennis court and a characterful games room. Close to the properties are several National Trust and Heritage sites as well as the famous Morgan Motor Car factory in Malvern. 3 Treworgey Cottages, Cornwall
Treworgey Cottages is a cluster of 15 five-star 18th century properties with country interiors, private gardens and spectacular views. Activities include swimming in the outdoor pool, tennis and horse riding, as well as a kids’ clubs. The heated outdoor pool, a sheltered sun trap, sits in a spectacular setting with views down the valley towards the Looe River. Flear House is a beautifully appointed Georgian Manor House set in over half an acre of private gardens. The house is accessed through a pillared entrance directly into the dining hall bedecked with a crystal chandelier and large inglenook fireplace. 5 Higher Wiscombe, Devon
In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, dog-friendly Higher Wiscombe features three cottages that sit in 52 acres of rolling countryside. 6 Neuadd Farm Cottages, Ceredigion, Wales
Neuadd Farm Cottages nestle in flower filled gardens and grounds with a fantastic outdoor heated swimming pool (open mid-May to September). Enjoy relaxed afternoons by the pool with a glass of wine and evening barbeques with spectacular views of the lake in the valley. Originally farm buildings, the mellow stone walls are now festooned in clematis, wisteria, honeysuckle and roses, forming a peaceful garden courtyard.
