5 of London’s Best Tennis Clubs for Great British Tennis Weekend

It’s Great British Tennis Weekend from 21-22 July 2018, so if you we’re inspired by Wimbledon, now is the time time to pick up a tennis racket and head for one of London’s top tennis courts

Organised by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Great British Tennis Weekend sees more than 100 clubs run free open days for people looking to try out the sport. Here, Pedro Pereira, resident tennis coach from Spin, has picked out his top 5 tennis courts in London hosting a Great British Tennis Weekend open day

1 Totteridge Lawn Tennis Club
Situated in a beautiful leafy suburb and within easy reach of Finchley, Barnet and Whetstone, Totteridge Tennis Club has nine floodlit courts with large run-off areas. Three are Euroclay courts; 6 are hard courts.

2 Globe Lawn Tennis Club
Globe Lawn Tennis Club is a little oasis in Belsize Park. It has six courts, four of which are artificial grass courts, one all-weather hard court and one artificial clay court. Four of the courts are floodlit.

3 Wigmore Lawn Tennis Club
Wigmore Lawn Tennis Club in Streatham has eight all-weather, floodlit courts. Four are artificial clay, three are porous acrylic and one is a synthetic grass court.

4 The Kings Club
The Kings Club, located in the tennis capital of the UK, Wimbledon, has four floodlit artificial grass tennis courts available for booking all year round.

5 Sydenham Tennis Club
Sydenham Tennis Club has seven all-weather, floodlit tennis courts, four of which are artificial clay, three of which are tarmacadam. Members can play on these courts until 10.30pm. There are also two squash courts and a croquet lawn.
