3 Perfect Party Season Hair Styles & How to Create Them

As the countdown to Christmas begins and our social calendars fill up, it’s the perfect time to experiment with a new, on-trend look. Nothing quite completes an outfit like a stunning hairstyle, after all…

As Rush Hair celebrates its latest opening at Westfield London – its 100th salon – this November, The Resident asked their expert stylists to put together three of this season’s must-try hairstyles, so that you’re guaranteed to shine at every festive occasion.

1 Red carpet curls

Curls are a classic, versatile style that never fall out of fashion, bringing a touch of glamour that is perfect for party season.

Christmas party hair styles and how to create them by RUSH Hair salon at Westfield LondonTo create this look at home, towel-dry your freshly washed hair and apply a styling spray to start. We’d recommend L’Oréal Professionnel’s Tecni ART Pli Shaper spray (stocked at the Rush Hair Westfield London salon).

It’s heat activated and locks in essential moisture that your hair craves in the winter months.

After blow drying, use a large-barrelled heated tong and select small sections of the hair, wrapping them vertically towards you around the tong for 20 seconds.

Once you’ve completed this process on all of your hair, spray with L’Oréal Professionnel’s Beach Waves spray, and tousle the curls with your fingers until they’re perfect for you.

For Hollywood style waves, opt for a deep side parting and pin the curls to help them set, then gently brush out with a paddle brush sprayed with hairspray to reduce frizz.

2 Simple knot up do

Why not experiment with your look by trying out high-fashion styles, such as a chic updo?

How to create a simple chic up-do for Christmas party season by RUSH Hair salonStart by taking your favourite hairspray and backcombing the hair at the crown of your head to create volume. Secure at the back of your head with hair grips.

Then, leaving some hair loose at the front to frame your face, take two sections of hair from the front – one from either side – bring to the back of the head, tie in a knot and secure with pins (you might need to tie a double knot).

Add a further two sections to the hair and knot them, incorporating the tails of the previous knots. Repeat until you have run out of hair and secure in place at the nape of the neck with a band and hair grips.

Tuck and pin any tails that have escaped and you’ll have a simple, feminine up do.

3 Beehive braid

From fishtails to crown braids, plaits are certainly having a ‘moment’ right now. Elevate a simple French braid to an evening look with a sixties inspired ‘beehive’.

Christmas party hair styles: French braid by RUSH Hair salonStarting at the top of the hair, build volume at the crown by pushing a three-inch section of hair from the centre to the front of the crown, securing with hairspray and grips if necessary.

Then, divide the hair at the top of the head into three sections and cross over into a simple plait.

Create the French plait by taking small, horizontal sections of the hair from either side and adding into the main plait, crossing over in the middle strand.

Continue this process until all of the hair is plaited, and secure with a clear band for a chic finish.

Add the finishing touch to your look with a glamorous accessory such as a statement hair slide or embellished Alice band.

Whether you want to change up your day-to-day look, or need a one-off style for a special occasion, the expert stylists at Rush Westfield London can help. Head to rush.co.uk or call 020 3963 8940 to make an appointment
