WHY WE SHOULD ALL MOVE TO HITHER GREEN

Hither Green is best known for…

Until recently, Hither Green has been relatively unknown. It’s chiefly recognised by the landmark Clock Tower, located in the popular Meridian South development on the former Hither Green Hospital site. The ‘village like’ feel of Hither Green has become really apparent in years, thanks to the parades of lovely shops on either side of the station and the residents’ community spirit. The Hither Green Festival, an annual, nine-day event that kicks off on 16 May this year, shows the passion people have for the area.

Where can I shop in Hither Green?

The lack of a ‘high street’ has meant the normal array of chain shops and restaurants have yet to infiltrate the area, so independent traders are thriving. Boutique coffee shops, like Archibald’s Café on Manor Lane and You Don’t Bring Me Flowers on Staplehurst Road, are hugely popular and benefit from the support of the local groups like the Friends and Users of Staplehurst Shops.

Where to eat and drink in Hither Green? 

Also on Staplehurst Road lies The Station Hotel pub, which was refurbished a few years ago and is now undergoing further works to once again become a hotel. This local hub offers a restaurant area with a fantastic gastro menu for adults and children alike, a beer garden always bustling in the summer and screens for local sports fans to watch the big games.

Good schools in Hither Green…

The area appears to have grown as some of the local schools, particularly the Brindishe trio (Brindishe Lee, Brindishe Green and Brindishe Manor School), have excelled. Over the years more and more families with school-age children have moved here to be within the catchment of these Ofsted-rated Outstanding state schools.

Partly owing to the schools, Hither Green’s properties have boomed in recent years.
