THE MODA CHAIR: WHERE MIDCENTURY DESIGN MEETS MODERN LIVING

Mid-century modern is a having a moment. The 20th century design ethos has captured the hearts of many who appreciate good, timeless design. But you can spend hours searching for the perfect vintage chair, and while it might look great, what if it doesn’t with your lifestyle? Does it work with your colour scheme? What if the kids drop toast and jam on it?

Enter Cult Furniture, which has just launched the Moda collection. Inspired by mid-century furniture but modernised for contemporary homes, every chair in the range has been sculpted from comfortable, stain and disaster-proof plastic in a huge range of colours.

‘We’re design obsessives,’ says Fiaz Iqbal, founder of Battersea-based Cult Furniture, ‘but we know that it’s easy to get tired of brands and labels dictating style to you rather than the way it should be. Designer taste isn’t the same as your own personal taste, so when we were coming up with our new range of chairs, we wanted to create something that was truly customisable to give you the chance to create the ultimate look for your home.’

The Moda collection comes in all the classic options, including cool neutrals like white, grey and black, as well as a spectrum of Pantone-inspired pop colours made to instantly transform your space – vivid oranges, bright yellows and moody hues like teal.

In fact, Moda might just be the most customisable chair around. You can pick between armchair or dining chair seats then decide on the base too, choosing between on-trend metals such as glistening copper and natural wood in a range of shapes from simple to complex, ‘Eiffel tower’ style legs.

New for 2017, you can even turn Moda seats into stools or rocking chairs in an instant with specially-designed new bases

New for 2017, you can even turn Moda seats into stools or rocking chairs in an instant with specially-designed new bases. The exclusive bracket system at the base means they can be swapped in an instant.

And Moda is just one part of the Cult Furniture story. The company’s aim is to offer you designer-worthy furniture, wall art, textiles and gift ideas without the crazy price tags or mark-ups you find in designer stores. The Wandsworth Road showroom (take a virtual tour below) is stocked with an enormous range of furniture and accessories for every room and across every style – sofas, stools, storage, lighting and more in styles from industrial chic to Scandi cool. If it’s on-trend, they’ll have it.
