Harrods Estates negotiator Michael Davis gets to grips with his new job by way of his trusty scooter

My first month at Harrods Estates has been really exciting and challenging. I zip around London on a scooter and it is lovely to work in such a fantastic location, right across from Hyde Park. Harrods is a fabulous, globally renowned brand and offers much more than an estate agency so it has been great to immerse myself in the VIP service on which Harrods Estates prides itself. I have enjoyed learning about the Mayfair and prime London market and have already visited some truly exceptional properties.

I am taking part in this year’s Prudential London Surrey 100 cycle race so I am being very healthy at the moment. I recently discovered Chop’d on Curzon Street, which is great for healthy salads. The queue is always out the door at lunchtime. For a special treat, Galvin at Windows, which is situated in the Hilton Park Lane, is a fabulous choice for dinner and it has really spectacular views across Hyde Park.

I recently had the opportunity to view one of our instructions, Windsor House (main image) in Bishops Avenue. The mansion is outstanding. It measures over 10,000 sq ft and has some fabulous features such as the indoor/outdoor swimming pool, which can be transformed into a large entertaining space with a grand sweeping staircase in the entrance hall. However, my favourite room has to be the cinema room, which is a perfect space to watch a film or sport with friends. The car stacker parking is also very impressive. I have to say it is one of the most glamorous properties I have seen and is a part of my job I really enjoy along with meeting people from around the world.

I am quite new to Mayfair but like the majority of properties in prime central London right now, there appears to be little stock to meet the demand, therefore prices will remain consistent for the foreseeable future, so those interested in luxury property will still look at Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Chelsea for their London home or as an investment.

In the next month I am looking forward to heading off on holiday with my family and enjoying the summer evenings. Fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us, as that’s always the risk when going on holiday in England. I’m off to Blakeney, Norfolk, which when the sun shines, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to be, sitting on the harbour wall crabbing with my five year old son.
