London Penthouse Properties with the Best Views

This autumn, London sees the launch of the largest and most impressive penthouses of 2018, with eye-popping views over the capital. With price tags of around £20 million, it’s a niche market, but hey, we can dream…

At £22m, the jewel in the crown has to be the four bedroom triplex penthouse at the Corniche by St James on Albert Embankment. Set across the 25th to 27th floors, the uninterrupted 360 degree views from the curved floor to ceiling windows take in the iconic roll call of the Houses of Parliament, Tate Britain, the city skyline, Battersea Power Station and the London Eye.

The vast 6,903 sq ft penthouse has two separate entrances; one into the reception area, the other straight into the bedroom suites, allowing late arrivals to sneak straight to sleep. A helical staircase connects each level to the vast private roof terrace, reminiscent of a luxury yacht deck, and is perfect for alfresco entertaining with iconic London as your backdrop. The five-star lifestyle continues at the residents’ only Skyline Club Lounge and roof terrace on the 19th floor with a spa, infinity pool, sauna, steam and treatment rooms.

If you can tear yourself away from those river views, leafy Holland Park is becoming known as millionaire’s row with A-lister celebrities like the Beckhams firmly ensconced. Savills reports that average prices are just over £2m. The sixth and seventh floor penthouse at the Holland Park Villas scheme has views over the park and woodland gardens.

The 6,731 sq ft apartment has terraces and a balcony leading off the master bedroom. World leading health and wellness company BODYISM will manage the spa, pool and private studios offering Pilates and yoga. Residents can also make use of the library and climate controlled wine cellar. Prices are on application via Knight Frank.

For buyers still in love with the age of transatlantic ocean travel, Strutt & Parker is selling a stunning 5,496 sq ft duplex penthouse in the restored Grade II listed Oceanic House in Pall Mall, once the HQ and booking office of the White Star Line, owners of the Titanic. Priced at £19.5m, the restored exterior and brand new interiors extend to private roof terraces delivering views in multiple directions from the top floor of the building.

Does lateral living appeal? Inside a traditional red brick mansion in Cadogan Square, three flats have been converted into one huge duplex penthouse covering the four and fifth floors. The 3,156 sq ft property has scale and grandeur including dramatic vaulted wooden ceilings. It’s a short walk from Sloane Street and Knightsbridge and is on the market with Strutt & Parker for £15.75m.

Spread across 2,394 sq ft and with 452 sq m of terrace space, the three bedroom Montague penthouse at The W1 London on Marylebone High Street has London’s skyline and the BT Tower in its sights. Residents have membership of the spa facilities at a nearby five-star hotel and a dedicated 24-hour concierge team for all those little tasks you just won’t have time for. The price tag for this penthouse with a huge choice of top eateries and Daylesford farm shop on its doorstep is £12.5m.

Royalty Mews is a beautiful Soho secret, concealed in a cobbled lane behind Dean Street. Designed by March & White, the three bedroom split-level penthouse features a third floor reception room with floor to ceiling windows leading directly onto the Soho-style private terrace. It’s on the market with CBRE for £4.6m.

One of London’s charms is the unexpected views from some of the quiet backstreets. The Music Box by Taylor Wimpey Central London has launched its collection of three, three-bedroom 2,343 sq ft penthouses on Union Road between Blackfriars Road and Borough High Street in the heart of SE1.

Priced at £2.5m – a snip compared to some of the aforementioned properties – each of these premium spaces has a private roof terrace providing an outdoor sanctuary against a backdrop of breathtaking city views. The Tate Modern, White Cube Gallery, Hayward Gallery are just minutes away. Is your dream over, or has it just begun?
