WHY BUY PROPERTY IN SOUTH NORWOOD

Estate agent Esta Wilson, Branch Manager at haart, Crystal Palace, on why she thinks South Norwood is going to be the next area to invest in property in London

I think South Norwood is going to be the next property hotspot. The rise in prices, distinct lack of property stock and recent announcement of plans to re-ignite Crystal Palace means that South Norwood will take off and have a gold rush.

Affording 28 acres the lakes were used between 1809 to 1836 as a reservoir for the Croydon Canal. Now the lakes are used by local anglers and Croydon Sailing Club. Also housed there is a bowling green, tennis/basket ball courts, football/cricket pitch, a playground, and a trim trail. I feel South Norwood Lakes offers a combination of the country retreat away from the stresses and strains of city life but is not too far away is Norwood Junction Overground Station which is part of the ‘ginger’ line and only 20 minutes away from Canada Water.

Norwood Junction Station has a brilliant coffee shop and is just one stop away from West Croydon where there are plans for a new Westfield Shopping Centre. The area has a fantastic mixture of modern, 1930s and Victorian flats and houses starting as low as £130,000 for a one bedroom apartment to a four bedroom semi detached 1930s house for £689,950. Schooling is brilliant too the most popular ones are the Brit School of performing Arts attended by Adele, Jessie J and my daughter Ella; Cypress Primary School and both Harris Academies – one in South Norwood and the other in Crystal Palace.
