A new bar celebrating exploration and adventure, with cocktails inspired by some of the world’s most exotic and daring destinations, is due to open on The Strand this month
Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration will take cocktail fans on a thrilling journey inspired by the adventures of Phileas Fogg in Jules Verne’s timeless classic, Around The World in 80 Days.
The bar, the fifth Fogg’s venue to launch, courtesy of Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling’s Inception Group, will come complete with shelves laden with travel books, a life-sized model of a Victorian Orient Express, plus a map room, which will host regular evening events with a resident explorer, cocktail masterclasses and spirit safaris.
Due to open on 14 September, the bar will feature an elegant lobby with an oversized rotating globe, cabinets of curiosities and a machine – inspired by famous inventor Rube Goldberg – that will make your drinks at the push of a button.
The multi-sensory cocktail menu will take the form of an explorer’s journal, charting the feats of fellows across nine exotic locations, from the palms of the Sahara Desert to the North Pole and Great Barrier Reef.
Phileas Fogg’s preferred refreshments of toasted crumpets, croquettes, meat and cheese boards will also be served, as well as more daring dishes such as crickets, mealworms and grasshoppers.
Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration will be the fifth bar in the immersive Mr Fogg’s Collection, which includes Mr Fogg’s Residence in Mayfair, Mr Fogg’s Tavern and Mr Fogg’s Gin Parlour in Covent Garden, and Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals in Fitzrovia.
