The Ritz, Piccadilly’s iconic Grande Dame hotel, has announced the reopening of its famous revolving door…
The Ritz, one of London’s most famous hotels, remained open throughout the two World Wars, but was forced to close for the first time in its 114-year history due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But the landmark has just announced the reopening dates of its restaurants, with the gilded Palm Court first to throw open its doors on 18 July 2020 to serve its world-renowned Afternoon Tea.
Then, on Monday 27 July 2020, the Michelin-starred Ritz Restaurant, including The Ritz Restaurant Terrace, will be opening for lunch and dinner service, as will the elegant Secret Garden for all day alfresco dining and drinks.
‘One of life’s most enjoyable pleasures is to share delicious food and drink around the table in the company of family and friends’
Sal Gowili, General Manager of The Ritz, said of the reopening: ‘One of life’s most enjoyable pleasures is to share delicious food and drink around the table in the company of family and friends.
‘We’ve deeply missed connecting with our guests in person while The Ritz has been closed. It will be wonderful to have this opportunity once again, to be able to take excellent care of our guests and to provide a safe environment with some beautiful alfresco spaces, to celebrate summer in London at its best.’
The Ritz’s guestrooms and suites will reopen on 1 September and bookings are open now.
The RESTAURANT REOPENINGS
The Ritz’s restaurants will open at the following times:
Afternoon Tea at The Palm Court

From 18 July 2020, afternoon tea will be served daily at 11.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm & 7.30pm (priced from £61pp and £40 per child).
The Ritz Restaurant & Terrace
The Michelin-starred Ritz Restaurant is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the world, while The Ritz Restaurant Terrace offers vast parasols, a mosaic floor and vibrant floral boxes. Executive Chef John Williams MBE and his brigade will be back in the Ritz Kitchen from 27 July 2020, open daily for lunch from 12.30pm-2.15pm and for dinner service from 5.30pm-10pm. The terrace will be open daily (weather permitting) from 12.30pm-11.30pm (closing at 10.30pm on Sundays). Advance reservations will be in operation in The Ritz Restaurant Terrace for lunch and dinner, with a walk-in policy in operation outside of service times on a first-come-first-served basis.
The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden is a secluded oasis for alfresco drinking and dining among trimmed topiary, olive trees and fragrant lavender pots. During the evening, the garden is lit with twinkling lights and candles, and soft background music plays. A full bar menu is available throughout the day and evening, offering seasonal cocktails, wine and champagne, as well as classic dishes like the Ritz Classic Club Sandwich and the Ritz Caesar Salad. From 27 July 2020, The Secret Garden will be open daily (weather permitting) from 11am-11.30pm (until 10.30pm on Sundays). Guests must be 16 years of age of over.
