Clapham’s first vegan pop-up restaurant, The Meet, launches on 2 November
The Meet, a new concept from south London chef Dominic Taylor, will offer indulgent plant-based comfort food combined with exclusively vegan cocktails at Fu Manchu, located under the railway arches in Clapham North.
Veganism is one of the largest growing lifestyle movements and has fully embedded itself into London’s restaurant culture. Chef Dominic Taylor, formerly Executive Chef of The Jam Tree, has used creative cooking techniques to revamp popular millennial dishes into indulgent vegan alternatives.
Classic lunch time favourites utilise the latest in meat free alternatives such as seitan and jackfruit, alongside zingy herbs and spices to transform recognisable meaty dishes into unexpected vegan delights. For example, the humble cauliflower evokes the taste of sweet and spicy chicken wings through a maple and siracha glaze in a dish aptly named Give Me Wings.
Dominic himself adheres to a plant-based diet, and draws verve from a lively blend of cultural influences to create nourishing and flavoursome plates like What a Mess – a smokey black bean, plantain and jackfruit chilli served messy with chips and ‘cheese’, topped with labneh and pico de galo – and Jerkin Around, a jerk-style organic tofu with pineapple salsa, scotch bonnet mayonnaise and a gem lettuce wholegrain wrap.
Open daily, The Meet will offer a selection of small sharing plates, burgers, late-night bites as well serving bottomless vegan brunch and Sunday roasts on the weekend. The menu has been designed for everyone from committed vegans to experimental foodies. Early risers can enjoy a cold press juice or an Upper – a Chai seed and acai Bircher muesli pot – or Avo Go garlic sourdough toast topped with crushed avocado and jalapeno spiked pico de galo.

Cocktails include a Rhubarb & Vanilla Custard Martini (made with Finlandia Vodka, Rhubard syrup, cashew milk & Ms Betters Miraculous Foamer), a Machito made with Bacardi Superior, Midori, macha powder with unwaxed lime juice and William Fox Vegan syrup with Ms Betters Miraculous Foamer, and a Vegroni (made with Aperol, Bombay Saphire and Dolin Rouge vegan Vermouth, aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 4 weeks and smoked).
The Meet will take place every Tuesday to Sunday at Fu Manchu as a fun-spirited addition to London’s vegan restaurant and cocktail bar scene. Open Tues-Fri 5pm-10pm and Sat-Sun 11am-9.30pm.
