The World’s 50 Best Bars award winners have been announced and there’s good news for Londoners! Nine bars in the capital feature on the list this year, with The Langham hotel’s Artesian taking the number one spot for a second year in a row.
Shoreditch speakeasy Nightjar was placed in second position, while Hoxton Square’s Happiness Forgets, and Mayfair’s The Connaught Bar came in eighth and ninth. However, The Savoy was the only place to have two entries mentioned. After a two year break from the list, the hotel’s iconic American Bar was placed as number five and the Beaufort Bar at number 27.
The Beaufort’s head bartender Chris Moore has been praised for his highly creative pop-up cocktail menu which helped win the Best International Hotel Bar title at Tales of the Cocktail earlier this year.
The Beaufort’s current cocktail of the moment is called ‘Charred & Smoked’ – an autumnal mix of rum, a sherry and mushroom blend, honeycomb liquor, sugar syrup and smoked salt. The bar menu also includes a selection of rare and vintage spirits such as 1960s Booths Gin and homemade tonics.
Over in the American Bar, guests can enjoy selecting cocktails from a menu inspired by bygone eras as the bar celebrates its 125 anniversary.
