LONDON’S FIRST ALCOHOL-FREE BAR OPENS IN NOTTING HILL

Following its recent pop-up success, London’s first alcohol-free bar Redemption is back by popular demand

Here’s more proof Notting Hill is London healthiest neighbourhood. A few weeks after Bone Tea’s broth bar opened its doors on Westbourne Grove, the capital’s first alcohol-free bar is set to launch on Chepstow Road.

MORE: OUR VERDICT ON REDEMPTION

After the success of its three pop-up residences in Portobello, Holborn and Hackney, Redemption will open its permanent home in W2 on 10 August. This unique bar concept promises a variety of non-alcoholic cocktails plus a menu designed by a nutritional therapist which allows customers to spoil themselves, without spoiling themselves say the founders.

‘Socializing no longer needs to be at the expense of your health,’ says Catherine Salway, who established Redemption with her business partner and executive chef Andrea Waters two years ago. ‘We can’t wait to open our doors to our first permanent home and where better than Notting Hill?  We’re inviting West London locals to come along and raise a toast – non-alcoholic – of course, to the last weeks of summer!’

So, what’s on offer? On the ‘mocktail’ front, you’ll find coconut water-based drinks mixed with fresh fruit and ice. Yes, they might lack a certain special ingredient but aside from the health benefits, these cocktails are definitely more affordable than the boozier version. (Cold drinks are £4 – £5 and detox teas start at £2.)

Dishes on Waters’ nutritious menu include a spicy Vietnamese salad, a mezze plate, maki rolls and the best part, ‘good for you’ desserts. The English summer cheesecake, made from cashew and coconut lemon cream, with a walnut & medjool date base topped with fresh strawberries, sounds like heaven.

‘Summer has to be the best time of the year for a chef; an abundance and variety of local produce makes it a total joy to cook,’ says the experienced restaurateur. ‘My new menu for our first real home is packed with summer flavours and nutrients to help you keep the glow on.’

Food that keeps your summer glow going? Yes, please.

Redemption will be permanently located at 6 Chepstow Road, London, W2 5BH from 10th August 2015. Find out more at redemptionbar.co.uk.
